Erith Operatic Society is an amateur society specialising in light operettas with a strong chorus element - shows with plenty of humour and rousing choruses full of good singable tunes. Over recent years these have included shows by Gilbert and Sullivan (eg Pirates of Penzance, Mikado, Offenbach (Orpheus in the Underworld, La Vie Parisienne) and Strauss (Die Fledermaus), and have even stretched to an amateur version of Bizet's Carmen. We perform at Erith Playhouse and the emphasis is on enjoyment, both for our audience and ourselves.

Interested in joining?
To be on stage or not to be? Whatever you want to do previous experience is not necessary - we'll teach you. There's lots of other things to do - stage construction, costumes, programme selling. etc for the non-performers.

You don't need to be able to read music to be on stage (although it helps!), but you should be able to sing in tune. Experience of singing in harmony would be an added bonus. Equally you don't need to be a dancer (again, it helps!), but should be capable of learning basic steps, as we like to keep our choruses moving.

We perform in April, with rehearsals at 8.00 every Thursday evening in Belvedere Methodist Church Hall, Picardy Hill, Belvedere, starting in September.

Our aim is to have fun, both at rehearsals and at our various social functions through the year (this year has included a firework party, barbecue, a week in Center Parc and carol singing - that was all before Christmas).
